About Our Church

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church of Our Savior in New York was officially founded in 1984. This makes the church one of the first few churches to open its doors to Ethiopians to practice their Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Faith in the United States. The original article of incorporation of the church was signed by the following:

Bishop Abune Paulos
Dejazmach Zewde Gebre Selassie
Ato Tedla Teshome
Ato Abeselom Zikie
Ato Tilahun Wubeneh

Many Thanks to The Riverside Church.

Our deepest thanks are owed to the great and distinguished clergy, congregation, and staff of the magnificent Riverside Church. The generosity and spirit of brotherhood shown to our church and our community by the Riverside Church is largely responsible for the continued existence of this church for 30 years up to May 2014.  By providing spaces for weekly worship, breakfast and fellowship room, storage space and meeting halls along with a courteous, well equipped and helpful staff, the Riverside Church has been our home away from home. Since May 2014, our Church has been the proud owner of its own Church property at 302 East 206 St. in the Bronx, NYC.
